"Now, to be a kinder, more loving person requires action. Giving is its own reward. Therefore, fill your life with love."

Its been a while, a lot has been going on but it feels good to be back to this space. But first to say I am happy my Masters program has come to a close and now I look forward to new ventures. But what makes me happier is that finally I got baptised, something that I had procrastinated for years.

So unto G:

1. GOD

When it comes to investment of our resources, we carefully consider multiple aspects before committing, because we do not want to loose out. But, this principle does not suffice when it comes to God. Reason, we invest in people and things we consider lucrative, and God has already invested so much in us freely since. His love for us is unconditional, no matter how far we wander, rebel and disobey, He still accepts us in His abode, He is always looking out for us.

Therefore, in order to live a purposeful life we have to prioritise God in our lives. And the only place God occupies in our lives is first, nowhere else. It is up to every one of us to seek the plans God has for us and pursue them diligently.

"For I know the plans I have for you,"declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you hope and a future."Jeremiah 29:11

Sometimes our view of other people changes, we sign out of contracts and give up on our relations but God does not change and His promises to us stand. His plans for us are pure and of good intent

"I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob are not destroyed. " Malachi 3:6

Therefore, we are to seek God by studying His word. God's word is our assurance and a basis for our faith. Our God is true and we can depend on Him under all circumstances.

Lessons from the book Salt of the Earth by Douglas Hare
Grace describes God's total self giving for mankind. It is the totality of undeserved blessings from a gracious God received through faith and epitomised by Christ's sacrifice at the cross. And it is from this grace that mercy, forgiveness and compassion are birth.

"Do you know God's grace? Then you can love boldly and live robustly. You can swing from trapeze to trapeze; His safety net will break your fall. Nothing fosters courage like a clear grasp of grace." Max Lucado. Therefore, when we have God's grace within us;

We are saved
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-

We are forgiven and Sustained
Though we do not deserve it, God through his grace forgives us and accepts us all the time we fall short and wander. This bring to mind the song amazing Grace by John Newton

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T'was blind but now I see
Hym: Amazing Grace

"Made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." Ephesians 2:5

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Isaiah 43:2

We are transformed
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." Titus 2:11-14

We are liberated

That through God's grace we are no longer slaves to sins.

Marvellous grace of our loving Lord,

Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount out-poured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Hym: Marvellous Grace of our Loving Lord

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

Therefore, our main role is to solicit for God's grace and to grow in it. Because the recognition of God's grace enables us to share it with others. Like love, grace is reciprocal, the more you receive, the more you give away and the more you give away the more you receive.

There are few joys on earth like giving and not expecting anything in return, giving in good faith, in honest ways and its even more joy when you give in secrecy. The aforementioned is well exemplified with two great bible stories 1) Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, 1st Kings 17:7-16; Little did the renowned widow know that the hand of the Lord was upon her when she ventured to give Elijah her last meal. 2) The widow's offering, Mark 12:41-44; That God sees what man overlooks, God recognises our humble giving even when done in secrecy.

But now lets be more blunt and get into the specifics about our giving rituals, mmhhhh yes giving habits: Sometimes we are most likely to give our help when prompted to or when a situation is at the brink or even when the situation is already out of hand. Lets also examine a different scenario; the type of giving that comes with an excuse, "I can only afford to give this amount of quids because of etc and etc." Pretty radical, aha?

"Now, to be a kinder, more loving person requires action. Giving is its own reward. Therefore, fill your life with love."

"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:1-4

We can not live successfully in life without first seeking the right guidance.Guidance helps one understand him/herself and the world around better and this promotes ones development. But the summary of it all: Always also seek God's guidance. Why? God is willing and always ready to guide us in all matters, small, big or complex.

The nature of God's guidance is clear, perpetual, divine and comprehensive.

"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in you presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalms 16:11

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes, until you are in a situation, you will never fully decipher the art of gratitude: I mean having a heart of gratitude in the tiniest, simple and even extraordinary things. There is so much to be grateful for in life, just live well, love well and laugh well. But most importantly, learn to appreciate what you have , appreciate the days of good health, the provisions within your reach and even appreciate those times when everything seems not to be working as expected, it could be worse and someone else could be having it tougher already.

Gratitude and inner peace are synonymous. The more grateful you are for the gift of life and for what God has done for you, the more peaceful you are.

"Give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." Thessalonians 5:18

Powerful Lessons in Gratitude

Lessons of the Week.

1. God makes us complete and He establishes His perfect will in our lives. We should therefore be assured that God is moving our lives into wholeness and blessings. So therefore we need to move forward by spending quality time with God and desiring to develop the Christ like mind.

2. It is never too late to ask God what His plan for you is because it is also never late to go back to the drawing board.

3. It is important to commit our plans to God.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3

Until next, be blessed.
